This year, Symmetry Financial Group was able to partner with several non-profits in the Western North Carolina region to help make a difference in the community. "Being of service and doing good in the world" is one of the core values at Symmetry, and with some hard work, the Symmetry team was able to make an exponential impact for others in 2018!
Symmetry partners with many different types of non-profits and charities, most regularly those that support youth, fund healthcare, and prevent food instability and hunger in the community. In 2018, Symmetry was able to support over 35 local and regional non-profits and organizations. Through corporate and agent contributions, Symmetry raised over $347,000 for these organizations in 2018.
Through the Symmetry Challenge, a 5K race and dodgeball tournament, Symmetry was able to beat their annual fundraising goal to support the Make-A-Wish foundation. The Symmetry Challenge raised over $200,000 to help grant wishes for children through Make-A-Wish.
The average cost of one wish is $6,000. Through the monthly corporate donations and the money raised at the Symmetry Challenge, 34 wishes were granted to children in Central and Western North Carolina. This fundraising was fueled by the generous donations of agents, who came from across the country to participate.
In 2018, Symmetry partnered with Bounty & Soul , a local non-profit that provides healthy food and nutrition education to underserved communities. In addition to monthly donations, Symmetry employees at the corporate office in Swannanoa, North Carolina spent two Friday afternoons working at Bounty & Soul’s Produce to the People market. Symmetry also sponsored the Bounty & Soul VegOut benefit, which raised awareness and money for food insecurity.
Symmetry also partnered with the Asheville-based non-profit, Our VOICE, which supports victims of sexual violence and abuse. This year, Symmetry was proud to be a sponsor of the Our VOICE event Where There’s Hope, There’s Healing, hosted by activist, leader, and survivor Elizabeth Smart.
The Symmetry team donated to Asheville Humane Society to support animals in need of medical care and adoption. Asheville Humane is a no-kill animal shelter in Buncombe County that helps animals through adoption, relocation, foster programs and medical care. Symmetry recently sponsored the Asheville Humane Society Dine to be Kind event that raised money for animals in need.
At Symmetry, giving back is not just about donating, it’s about making a difference in the community. In 2019, Symmetry plans to partner with the Western North Carolina based non-profit Homeward Bound to help with housing projects in Buncombe County. The housing projects provide permanent housing solutions for the homeless population in the region, and since 2008 the program has helped over 1,800 men, women and children move into permanent housing.
Symmetry also has plans in the works for a 2019 National Volunteer Day partnering with Habitat for Humanity. Stay tuned for more information about how you can get involved in your city!
